Found a hostel in Lisbon for $12 a night by booking 3 weeks ahead
I usually book hostels last minute but tried planning ahead for a Portugal trip in March. Ended up at this place called Home Lisbon Hostel near the city center for $12 a night with free breakfast. The key was booking directly through their website instead of Hostelworld which saved me another $3 per night in fees. Has anyone else gotten better deals by skipping the big booking sites?

yeah for real, I got a spot in Barcelona for like $10 a night by hitting up the hostel's own site like 2 weeks out, way cheaper than any booking app.

I mean, that's wild, but also I gotta say, $10 a night in Barcelona sounds almost too good to be true, @victorb74. Did you double check if that was per person in a dorm or maybe a really legit early bird deal? I've found stuff that cheap before, but it's usually a shared room with like 12 bunks and no AC. Either way, hitting up the hostel directly is solid advice, I've saved a bunch doing that too. Just make sure the price includes taxes and fees, because sometimes that's where they catch you.
