My laundry routine changed after I added up the dryer sheets

I used to toss a dryer sheet in every load without thinking, maybe 4 sheets a week at $6 a box. Last month I counted what that was per year, around $78 just on paper that makes clothes smell. I switched to wool balls I bought once for $12 back in March, and they work fine for static and softness. My electric bill also dropped about $5 a month since clothes dry faster without the sheet coating. The only downside is I miss the scent, so I add a few drops of lavender oil to the balls. Has anyone else cut dryer sheets and found a cheap way to keep clothes smelling fresh?

$78 a year on dryer sheets is just throwing money into a machine that eats it. I stopped using them when I realized my clothes smelled like a candle factory exploded in my closet. Wool balls work, but lavender oil on them sounds like a setup for a science experiment where your shirts end up smelling like a spa that's also a gym. Also, you're telling me you actually noticed a $5 drop in your electric bill? That's the real flex here, most of us are just guessing our bills are high because we exist. Next step is you'll start hand washing everything in a creek and tell us the rocks work better.
