Walked into a dollar store in Birmingham and felt weird about the lighting

I was grabbing paper towels at a Dollar General on 3rd Ave around 2 PM and noticed how the fluorescent lights make everything look sad and gray. It hit me that stores like that design the lighting to make you move faster, not to make you feel comfortable. There was a mom with two kids arguing over a toy and the whole scene felt heavy under those buzzkiller bulbs. Has anyone else walked into a certain store and just felt the mood shift from bad lighting?

Walk in with sunglasses on next time, the glare cancels out the sad.

Glare doesn't cancel out gloom, but good point about the sunglasses.
