Picked a Marfa trip over a beach vacation. Mixed feelings now.
Had to choose between a week in Marfa or a week on the Gulf Coast in Port Aransas. I went with Marfa because everyone raved about the art and the vibes. Spent about $1,200 on a tiny Airbnb and drove 8 hours there. Honestly it was cool for two days. Saw the Prada Marfa installation and some galleries. But after that I was bored. Nothing to do but look at dirt and overpriced coffee. Beach trip wouldve cost the same but Id have actual swimming and sunsets. Has anyone else picked a trendy spot over a classic vacation and regretted it?

Read a travel blog that said Marfa is better for Instagram than actual fun.

The "better for Instagram than actual fun" line is pretty spot on for a lot of places these days. I feel like @tarar27 hit on a bigger pattern where we plan trips around photo ops instead of just enjoying the moment. It's like we're curating a memory for everyone else but forgetting to actually live it.
