Overheard two dudes at the gym arguing if progressive overload is overrated or the only way to grow

One guy swore by adding 5 pounds every week for 3 years, the other said he just changes reps and rests. Which camp do you actually see results with?

Thirty years of pouring concrete taught me that small consistent changes beat big sporadic ones every time. Progressive overload is just life's way of saying you gotta keep showing up and doing a little more than last week lol.

Tbh this is the kind of wisdom you only get from decades of doing something real with your hands. That little bit more every day adds up way faster than going all in once a month. I've seen guys try to get huge in the gym by doing two hours one day then nothing for a week. Always ends the same way. They burn out or get hurt. Slow and steady is boring but it actually works.
