Spent $200 on a noise-canceling headset for my open office and it made me want to scream more

I bought a Sony WH-1000XM5 headset last month thinking it would finally shut out Karen's keyboard pounding, but the pressure on my ears gave me headaches and I ended up returning it, has anyone else found those things just make the silence louder?

Had a buddy who bought those same XM5s for his open office. Said it felt like someone was slowly pushing his temples in after an hour.

Oh man, is your buddy me? I had the exact same thing with mine. They sound amazing but after like 45 minutes in a coffee shop I had to take them off because my head felt like it was in a vice grip.
