Got called rude at a Denver potluck for eating before everyone sat down, and I'd do it again
At a friend's place in Denver 2 weeks ago I grabbed a plate the second the food hit the table instead of waiting for the whole room to line up, and a guy I'd just met said out loud that it was "kind of rude." The food was getting cold, half the guests were still in the kitchen talking, and nobody was ever going to formally call us to eat, so I stand by it. Where's the real line here, is waiting for everyone actually the rule or just something we all pretend to do?
