Tried buttering the frog upside down on a job in Trotwood and the mortar finally stopped squeezing out
So I've been laying brick for 11 years and always buttered the frog with the hollow side up, just how I was taught. Last month on a garage footing job in Trotwood I was short on time and flipped the brick so the frog faced down into the mortar bed, and it locked in way faster with almost no squeeze out. I ended up checking my level every 3 courses and the wall stayed dead plumb, which never happens when I'm smearing the top like usual. Anyone else flip their frog down on purpose or was this just a fluke that worked for one wall?
