The foreman in Des Moines said my head joints were 'sloppy as hell' and I was mad for a week
He told me I was dipping the trowel too deep and getting mortar too wet, so my joints were squeezing out uneven. I switched to a stiffer mix and an 8 inch trowel and my wall went from 3/8 inch joints to a clean 3/8 consistent. Anybody got a mix ratio they swear by for face brick in cold weather?
