My line snapped halfway through a brick soldier course
I was laying a soldier course for a garden wall in Phoenix last Tuesday when my nylon line just gave out. It was a cheap one I grabbed at a big box store, and it frayed right at the knot. I had to stop everything, eyeball the last few bricks, and then redo the whole section after I got a new line. Has anyone found a specific brand of line that holds up better in the heat?

Used to buy cheap line too until a snapped one ruined a whole patio job.

My old boss would buy the cheapest line he could find. We lost a whole morning once when one snapped right as we were setting grade. Tbh I argued with him about the cost until I saw how much time we wasted. Now I get why the good stuff is worth it.

Heard a contractor say the same thing last week, that good line is cheaper than a do-over.
