I switched my monstera to rain water for 3 months and it threw out 4 leaves in weird spots
So about 3 months ago I got tired of fighting brown tips on my monstera and read somewhere that tap water minerals were the problem, so I started collecting rain water in a 5 gallon bucket on my balcony. I figured it would just stop the browning, that was it. Instead the thing went nuts and pushed out 4 new leaves, but here is the weird part, they all came out of the bottom half of the stem near the soil, not the top like normal. One of them is literally an inch above the dirt and pointing sideways at my wall. I checked for pests twice and there is nothing, roots look fine, soil drains good. I have kept monsteras since 2019 and never seen growth pattern change like that from water alone. Now I am wondering if rain water actually does anything special or if I just changed how often I was watering without noticing. Has rain water done something strange to anyone else's plants or am I reading too much into this?
