TIL that one book club debate almost derailed over a single page number

I was at my local book club meetup last Tuesday and someone pointed out that in chapter 12 of the novel we were reading, the main character's age changed by 3 years between two paragraphs. We spent like 20 minutes arguing if it was a typo or intentional for the story. Turns out the publisher fixed it in later editions but our copies were old prints. Has anyone else had a tiny detail like that spark a huge debate in your group?

Page 142 in my copy of The Hunt. We argued for an hour over a lamp color change.

A lamp is a lamp, who cares what color it is?

Hill.andrew sounds like they took that book way too seriously. I mean, arguing for an hour over a lamp color? That feels a bit much for fiction. Maybe it's just me, but I don't see how a lamp being blue or red changes the plot or the characters at all. Feels like something people do to look smart, but really they're just nitpicking over nothing. I'm all for digging into details, but an hour? No thanks.
