Our group argued for an hour about the ending of The Road

Half of us thought the boy finding the family meant hope survived, the other half said it was just more of the same bleak cycle. I voted for the bleak side, and now our next pick is a romance novel as a 'palate cleanser'. Did anyone else have a book club meeting that basically turned into a debate club?

Did you guys talk about whether the family was even real, or just a story the man made up to comfort the boy?
