That time an old coworker told me Terraforming Mars was overrated

Guy in my old group swore up and down that Terraforming Mars was just resource management dressed up with a space theme, so I avoided it for like 3 years. Finally played it last month at a con and honestly I kinda see his point - it's fine but I don't get the hype. Anyone else find it doesn't live up to the buzz?

Man its crazy how many people miss what makes Terraforming Mars actually good. The resource management IS the fun part if you ask me, its like building a machine where every card you play fits into a bigger plan. Setting up those little engine combos where one project gives you heat and another turns heat into money and then you start cranking out green cities feels genius when it clicks. The whole point is that slow build where you start with nothing and end up controlling half the planet. Tax returns dont let you drop a giant mirror array on the equator and watch your cash flow explode. People who call it boring are usually the ones who dont like planning ahead and just want to roll dice or something.

Had a buddy who finally caved and bought it after hearing all the hype, spent a whole weekend setting it up with his group, and then texted me saying it felt like doing taxes in space lol.
