That guy who rules-lawyered a co-op game for 20 minutes
At a game night last month in Austin, we were playing a cooperative tile layer and this guy, Dave, kept stopping every move to argue about edge matching. He pulled up the rulebook on his phone and read the same sentence out loud five times, then told the host her house rule was illegal. The rest of us just wanted to finish before midnight, but he wouldn't drop it. Has anyone else had a player who cared more about winning a co-op game than everyone having fun?

honestly after the first time he does that you gotta just set a timer and say "we got 30 seconds to settle this or we play the house rule and move on". i had a guy do the same thing in a co-op game and we literally took his phone, put it in the other room, and said he could read it during snacks. he sulked for a bit but we actually finished the game. sometimes you gotta treat them like a toddler, no joke.

man, the toddler thing hits way too close to home lmao. i once got so mad during a monopoly game that i flipped the board and my friends still bring it up five years later. yeah, i was the problem, but in my defense i was 23 and very sleep deprived. honestly though, sometimes you gotta just hand the dice to someone else and say "your turn, figure it out." that timer trick is gold though, might steal it for my next game night.
