My flip on keeping games for experts only

I once backed the idea that complex board games should stay with hardcore fans. Showing my casual friends how to play 'Pandemic' made me see that getting more people into games beats keeping them exclusive.

Honestly though, how big of a deal is this really? We're talking about board games, not state secrets. It's just plastic and cardboard. People can like Monopoly or they can like some crazy war game with a thousand pieces. Nobody wins a prize for having the more complicated hobby. The idea that this needs a serious debate at all is kinda funny.

Spot on about the plastic and cardboard, I've seen fights break out over board game rules that meant nothing.
