47 years old and just realized I've been shuffling wrong this whole time
My group has been playing every Friday night for like 12 years now, and last week one of the guys, Mark, watched me mash shuffle my deck for the third time during a game of Dominion and just goes "you know that's killing your cards right?" I thought he was being picky about the sleeves or something but no, he shows me this proper riffle bridge thing and then explains that the way I was doing it, all these bendy pushes, I was basically bending the corners up on every single shuffle. I looked down and sure enough, my old set of cards from like 2019 has these little white creases on like a third of the corners. I never noticed because we always play with sleeves now. Funny thing is I've been gaming since I was a kid, played M:tG in the 90s, and nobody ever said anything. Was I the only one who went decades without learning how to shuffle right? Or does anyone else still secretly mash shuffle and just pretend it's fine?
