Warning: The $800 power hammer class in Ohio taught me less than watching one guy at a tailgate

Everyone says you need a class to learn hammer control, but after dropping $800 in Columbus I learned more in 20 minutes watching a guy named Dale at a tailgate in Canton just work a piece of 1/2 inch round. Has anyone else found that hands-on demos beat paid courses, or am I just cheap?
