Kept saying no to a shop gig for 8 months until my van hit 200,000 miles on I-35
I always swore I'd never work for someone else again after getting burned back in 2019, but last month my odometer rolled over 200k outside Waco and the repair quote came back at $2,800 for the transmission. My old boss Dale offered me a steady spot running his crew with a set schedule and a truck I don't have to fix, and I said yes after turning him down every time since January. Turns out the thing that changed my mind wasn't the money, it was not wanting to wonder every morning if the van would start. Anyone else switch back to working for somebody after years on their own, and how long did it take before it felt normal?
