A customer's comment about my workbench made me rethink my whole setup
A guy came in last week to pick up his fixed road bike and just stared at my bench for a second. He said, 'Man, how do you find anything in that mess? It looks like a bomb went off in a hardware store.' I laughed it off, but it stuck with me. I've always just tossed tools back where they landed, thinking I knew where everything was. But after he left, I spent a full hour just cleaning. I got a cheap pegboard from the hardware store and hung all my hex keys, wrenches, and cone spanners in order. I even labeled the spots for my chain whip and cassette tool. It's only been a few days, but I'm not wasting five minutes looking for a 5mm allen key anymore. Has anyone else had a simple comment push them to finally get organized?

Sometimes a little outside shame is the best motivator lol.

Shame might get quick results, but it often makes people hide their mistakes instead of fixing them. That outside pressure can really hurt someone's own drive to do better. In the long run, feeling supported usually works better than feeling judged. It's about building someone up so they want to improve, not making them afraid to fail.
