The kitchen printer ate my 40th ticket last night, I almost walked out
Honestly, I've been slinging burgers in Austin for 5 years and I think we all just accept that the ticket machine jams during rush, but last night it spit out a wad of 40 orders in a row as gibberish. I had to call the owner at 9pm to read the order screen from his phone, which took 20 minutes while the line out the door got ugly. Has anyone else finally convinced their manager to replace one of these things before it completely snaps?
The printer deciding to write its own novel at 9pm is peak restaurant behavior. Forty tickets in gibberish sounds like it was trying to summon a demon instead of cook a burger. Calling the owner to read the screen off his phone is the kind of fix that only makes sense when you're already in the weeds. Your manager is probably waiting for the thing to literally catch fire before spending a dime on a new one. Start leaving the dead printer somewhere real obvious, like on their desk, and see how fast that "not in the budget" thing changes.
