Rant: A customer told me I was 'too friendly' and it actually made me rethink my whole approach

Some lady in line at Starbucks said I was being fake because I smiled too much while taking orders. I was mad at first but then I realized she had a point - I was rushing through greetings so fast it probably did look performative. Now I slow down and actually make eye contact, has anyone else had a customer call them out on something that was actually a legit critique?

Nah, I think she was just in a bad mood and took it out on you. Being friendly at work is fine, customers usually appreciate it more than acting all business-like.

bruh that happened to me too, a dude at the gas station said I was "trying too hard" and honestly it stung at first but made me realize I was just rattling off the same script without actually meaning it. kinda wild how a random stranger can hit you with some real talk like that lol.
