Took the 40 buck clippers to a house call, not my good set
Had to choose between my cordless set and the backup pair for a quick trim at a client's place, and after dropping my nice ones wrong last month I grabbed the cheaper pair, and honestly they handled a two week growth with zero pulling, so has anyone else found their backup gear does just fine on simple jobs?

Are you talking about a two week growth or does "simple job" just mean a quick cleanup with no heavy work? Cause I've found backup gear shines on short hair, but the moment you hit a thick beard or matted coat it's a whole different story.

wait, but even on a short growth a cheap trimmer just grabs and tugs on the skin if it's not sharp enough, so I'd argue a solid cheap pair only works if you're literally doing a once over on a buzz cut. honestly anything beyond that and you're better off spending the extra $20 on a mid range clipper.
