The 'quick' font swap that ate my whole Tuesday afternoon

Swapped the typeface on our studio's 14-page pitch deck last week and thought it'd take twenty minutes, but the line breaks and kerning all went sideways in the PDF export. Ended up remapping every heading and callout by hand until 9 PM, just because one glyph style didn't carry over. Has anyone else lost a full day to a supposedly simple font migration that looked fine in the editor but broke in the final file?

The same thing got me last year with a client deck. The fix that saved me next time was exporting a PDF before touching anything else, then doing the font swap in chunks, like heading styles first, check the export, then body text. Also, if you're on Adobe fonts, make sure the whole team has the same version, one missing weight will silently reflow everything. Now I keep a backup of the original PDF and the working file, plus I never trust the editor preview, the export is the only truth. It's a pain, but those extra 15 minutes of checking save you the 6 hour night.
