Remember when you could actually debate the idea of a cashless society?

Honestly, about 5 years ago I had to choose between going all-in on digital payments or keeping a solid cash stash. I picked cash, keeping about $500 in small bills at home. Tbh it felt like a weird choice even then, but after seeing some payment systems fail during a storm in Atlanta last winter, I was glad. Ngl, now just suggesting physical money has value gets you labeled some kind of conspiracy nut in most online spaces. Has anyone else held onto using cash and gotten pushback for it lately?

Man, I was all in on digital until my card got declined at a gas station during a power outage. That old ten in my glove box saved me.

My local farmer's market went cashless last month and the first Saturday, their card reader went down for two hours. People were just standing there holding baskets of tomatoes they couldn't buy. Suddenly my wrinkled twenty from the bottom of my bag looked like a golden ticket.

That's rough, but honestly the cashless setup has been a game changer for my market. The line moves way faster now without people fumbling for change. Tech hiccups happen, but they're pretty rare in my experience.
