Pro tip: Bought a cheap laser level off Amazon and it threw off an entire drywall job in Toledo

Picked up one of those $30 green beam levels from some random brand. Figured how hard could it be, right? Lines looked straight on the box. Got halfway through hanging ceiling sheets in a basement before I noticed the laser was off by nearly a quarter inch over 12 feet. Had to rip down three sheets and start over. Lesson learned the hard way. Anyone else get burned by budget tools that looked fine?

Buddy of mine had that same issue. Spent a whole day fixing crooked shelving.

Yeah no kidding, gotta double check your level before you start drilling.

Figured how hard could it be" - man I felt that in my soul. I learned this exact same lesson with a cheap stud finder that thought it saw a wire every time I touched it to the wall. Your mileage may vary on these budget tools but man, sometimes you just gotta pay the extra 20 bucks.
