I used to swear a 5 gallon bucket was the only way to haul tools, then my brother showed me a milk crate
For about 3 years I hauled everything in Homer buckets because a guy at a job site in Tulsa laughed at my soft bag and said real workers use buckets. Then my brother hands me a plastic milk crate he grabbed free behind a grocery store, and it holds my saw, cords, and hand tools without everything turning into a tangled mess at the bottom. Buckets are round so stuff just piles up, that was my whole problem and I never saw it. Anyone else ditch the bucket life or am I the last one holding on?
Been running a milk crate for 6 years now, the black ones from behind the Kroger on 5th, they last forever. One thing nobody tells you, zip tie a small board across the bottom half so your screwdrivers and pliers don't slide out the side holes. Also cut a piece of old inner tube and staple it around the top rim, saves your hands when you're carrying it loaded up stairs. Buckets still win for wet stuff though, I keep one just for muddy boots and rags. Crate for tools, bucket for junk, that's the setup.
