Two versions of The Room, I watched the Rifftrax cut and the real one

I wanted to defend The Room but had to pick which version to show my friend. The Rifftrax commentary makes it funny on purpose, but the real movie is funny by accident, you know? I went with the original, no jokes added, because the badness feels more honest that way. We stopped it twice to rewind Tommy Wiseau throwing the football, and my friend laughed harder at a serious crying scene than any comedy we watched last month. Now they think I have weird taste, but I stand by it. Has anyone else tried showing the straight cut and regretted it when people just got bored instead of laughing?

Try the Rifftrax version first, then show the real one after they're hooked.
