My friend walked out of 'The Room' after 20 minutes, but I think it's a masterpiece of pure feeling.
He said the acting was terrible and the plot made no sense, but I see it as a completely honest, unfiltered emotional experience from Tommy Wiseau. Has anyone else found a 'bad' movie that connects with them on a weirdly genuine level?

My cousin made me watch "Troll 2" last year. The acting is so stiff and the plot is about goblins, not trolls. But there's this weird, earnest vibe about a family trying to save each other from turning into plants. It's so bad it feels real.

Know exactly what you mean about "The Room". It feels like Tommy Wiseau is trying so hard to express something real that the normal rules of movies break. My pick is "Plan 9 from Outer Space". The sets are cardboard and the acting is strange, but Ed Wood's passion is totally there. It's like he's telling a ghost story with whatever he had. @the_harper, that "earnest vibe" you described is the whole key. When a movie is that honestly trying, even if it fails, it can hit harder than something slick and empty.

You're right about that earnest vibe being the key. I used to just laugh at movies like that, but @the_harper's point about "Troll 2" feeling real made me get it. The trying is what you end up watching.
