Tried the 5 AM shift for a month, the warehouse got quieter but my brain got louder
I moved to the 5 AM crew at the DC in Nashville after 2 years on nights. Thought fewer people meant less drama, but the supervisor just replays the same 3 stories every break. By week 3 I caught myself dreaming in pallet numbers. Learned the quiet shift isn't peace, it's just your own bad thoughts with better lighting. Anyone else trade one set of coworkers for a different kind of headache?

God, I felt this one in my bones. I did the same thing, traded a loud crew for a quiet building, and turns out my brain just got louder with nothing else to drown it out. You start counting the seconds between the conveyor belts clicking, then you realize you're having a full conversation with yourself about whether you left the crockpot on. That's not peace, that's just a different kind of noise.
