My old boss made me redo a report 6 times, new one just fixed it herself

Worked at this logistics place in Phoenix for 2 years under a manager who would reject every invoice summary I sent. She'd say things like 'this format is wrong' or 'you missed the color coding' but never explained what she actually wanted. Each resubmit took another 45 minutes because I had to guess at her system. She quit last month, and the new supervisor got my same report and just edited two line items directly in front of me. No lecture, no 'redo everything,' just a quick fix and a 'this looks good otherwise.' Took me a full day to stop waiting for the other shoe to drop. Has anyone else realized how much wasted effort you accept when you're scared of a bad review? I could've been doing actual work this whole time.

Did you ever go back and look at your old reports to see what the new supervisor actually changed? That might tell you if the old boss was just on a power trip or if there really was a pattern you were missing. I’d be curious if the fixes were tiny things nobody would ever notice, or if they were actual mistakes. Because if they were that small, then yeah, you were just getting jerked around for no reason. That kind of thing really wears on you after a while, and it makes you second guess every little choice you make at work. It’s a shame it takes someone leaving to show you that.
