Spent 3 hours hunting a bug in a spreadsheet that was one hidden apostrophe
I want to say upfront that our scheduling sheet at work is a mess and nobody wants to fix it. Last Tuesday I stayed late trying to figure out why a formula kept breaking, and it turned out one cell had a hidden apostrophe in front of a date. Three hours, in a cold office in Des Moines, over one lousy character. My boss said nothing when I showed him, he just shrugged and asked if I got the rest done. I get that errors happen, but the bigger issue is nobody saved a clean copy of this sheet since maybe 2019. Does anyone else deal with a shared file that everyone edits and nobody backs up?
