Finally got my revenge on the invoice filing system at work
For 8 months at this logistics office in Toledo, everyone just tossed paper invoices into a shared basket and hoped for the best. I kept telling my boss Barbara that we were losing track of late payments, but she said it was fine, quote, "we've always done it this way." So last Tuesday I spent my lunch break sorting 3 years of receipts into labeled folders by date and vendor, and I even color coded the sticky notes. When Barbara came back and saw it, she just stared for a solid minute then asked me to train the new hire on my method. Honestly it felt better than any raise because I proved that the mess was costing us about $400 a month in duplicate charges. Has anyone else had to secretly fix a system just to get their boss to notice the problem?
