Serious question, my mom said cash was a lazy gift and now I have 3 years of evidence she was wrong
My mom always said giving cash for a wedding gift is lazy and rude, so for my cousin's wedding in 2021 I caved and bought a $150 crystal vase off her registry instead. My cousin opened it, gave a fake smile, and I later found out from my aunt that it sat in the box for 8 months before going to Goodwill. Meanwhile my brother handed them a card with $200 inside and they still talk about how much it helped with their honeymoon in Florida. Tbh cash is the only gift that never ends up in a donation pile with a tag still on it. What's the worst "thoughtful" gift you got that you had to pretend to love?
