My aunt gave me a scented candle that smelled like literal fish

I opened it at Christmas last year and the whole room went quiet. It was supposed to be some kind of ocean breeze scent but it was pure anchovy. She said she got it from a craft fair downtown and thought I'd like it because I live near the coast. I kept it on my shelf for six months just staring at it. One night I actually lit it to see if it got better. It did not. The smoke made my cat hiss at the candle. Has anyone else gotten a gift that was so bad it felt like a prank?

Haha, @the_charlie is onto something. Read that burning fish smoke is actually toxic.

That cat hiss says it all, I once got a candle that smelled like burnt popcorn and just regifted it to a neighbor I didn't like.
