Took 4 months to realize my date's 'busy season' was permanent
Met a guy on Hinge back in March who swore his job as a night manager meant he could only see me on Tuesdays, so I rearranged my whole schedule around 4 dates a month. Then I found out from his coworker at a bar in Austin that he'd been saying that to everyone for two years just to dodge commitment. Why do we give people this much benefit of the doubt when the first red flag is staring us right in the face? Anyone else burned six weeks or more on a schedule that was never going to open up?

That coworkers bar in Austin thing is wild, but honestly it just reminds me of how people treat schedules like a smoke screen for everything these days. I had a friend who kept saying he was "too slammed with side projects" to hang out for almost a year, then I saw his gaming stats and he had 400 hours logged that month. We all learn this weird habit of taking peoples word as fact when their actions are screaming the real story, like a 3 syllable version of "theyre just not that into you". The sad part is we do it with jobs, friendships, even our own family, because admitting someone quietly checked out hurts more than just accepting their excuse.
