Finally figured out why my filter was clogging every single trip
Took me like 4 months and 6 different trips to realize my water filter was getting clogged because I was dipping it straight into murky creek silt. I was at the Uinta Mountains in Utah when I timed it: 45 minutes to squeeze out one liter. Has anyone else wasted half a day fighting a clogged filter before realizing you gotta let the water settle first?

Pre-filtering with a bandana or coffee filter saves way more time than letting it settle, since the silt still sits right at the intake even after waiting. Letting it settle helps some, but a cheap mesh prefilter keeps the gunk off your main filter in the first place. That Uinta silt is brutal, so try the bandana trick next time and you'll cut your squeeze time way down.
