Blew $140 on a giant spiral ham for Thanksgiving and my aunt brought her own turkey anyway
Back in 2019 I was hosting Thanksgiving at my place in Columbus for the first time, and I wanted to be the guy who handled the main dish. So I went to the butcher and dropped $140 on a big spiral ham, the good kind with the glaze packet. My aunt Carol shows up two hours late with a full turkey in a roasting bag and sets it right next to my ham on the counter. She says she just wanted to be safe in case I burned something. Nobody touched my ham. I ate ham sandwiches for eleven days after that, and by day six I was putting it in my eggs just to get rid of it. The wild part is my mom pulled me aside later and told me Carol did the same thing to her in 2008. That side of the family has been carrying this turkey thing around for decades. Does anyone else have a relative who shows up with backup food like the main dish is a competition?
