Missing my daughter's play for a radar glitch

I've noticed a lot of avionics folks have to bail on family stuff for quick fixes. Just last Thursday, I had to leave my kid's school play early because of a sudden radar fault. We now keep a backup sitter on speed dial for these moments, but it still stinks. Seems like a common hassle in our field.

Feels like that's just modern life now. Tech glitches wrecking personal moments happens to everyone, not just in your field. Our whole world runs on systems that fail at the worst times.

Did your grocery store's checkout ever freeze mid-payment?

Man, that really hits home. My cousin works on avionics and he's missed so many birthdays and holidays for last minute call outs. Having a backup sitter is smart, but it doesn't fix the feeling of letting your kid down. That stuff just eats at you, even when you know the job has to come first. It's a tough spot to be in for sure.
