Why does nobody warn you about caliper slide pins seizing at 60k?
Had a 2014 Civic come in last Tuesday with a brake pedal that felt fine but the pads on one side were down to metal while the other side had half life left. Pulled the caliper and the bottom slide pin was so dry it took a pry bar and 20 minutes of PB blaster to break loose. Greased it up with some silicone paste, new pads and rotor, and the customer was back on the road for about $180 in parts. Now I check slide pins on every brake job no matter what the book says. Anybody got a lube they trust more than the silicone paste for the long haul?
