Stuck a bolt in the freezer overnight and it slid right into the control arm bushing
Rebuilding the front end on a 2004 Silverado and those upper control arm bushings were fighting me hard. Press kept walking the sleeve sideways so I ruined two of them. My old shop teacher from back in the day used to say cold shrinks metal, so I tossed the bushings in the freezer for 6 hours and heated the arm with a heat gun for about 10 minutes. Dropped them in with one tap from a dead blow, perfect fit, zero damage. Been doing it this way for 4 years now on every press fit job. Rainy day in Tacoma and I'm curious, what little tricks did you pick up from an old timer that still work?
