Pro tip: Check your grounds before chasing a no-start

Had a chat with an old diesel mechanic named Lou at the parts counter last Tuesday. He told me he sees guys swap starters, alternators, and batteries all day long when the real problem is a corroded ground wire. I had a Ford F-250 in my bay that cranked slow and the dash lights flickered, and sure enough the main ground strap to the block was eaten up. Anyone else ever waste time chasing parts when it was just a bad ground connection?

Lou would say check the battery cables too, not just the block strap.

DANG Lou was right, did he mention how often salt belt trucks eat those block grounds?
