A 2018 F-150 with a coolant leak showed me why you should always check the oil cooler housing.

The truck came in for a small drip, but after a week the whole front cover was soaked. Pulled the housing and found the factory gasket had turned to mush. How many of you have seen this on the newer 5.0s?

My buddy's 2019 5.0 did the exact same thing last month. That little weep turned into a full on river under the hood. I felt like a genius for spotting it, then a total fool because I'd been ignoring the same faint smell in my own truck for weeks. Guess who's got a weekend project now?

My 2018 5.0 has had a slight coolant smell for two years now. It's just a slow seep from the thermostat housing, not a blown head gasket. I top it off every few months and call it a character quirk.

Classic. Hannah's "character quirk" is a ticking time bomb.
