Drove 90 minutes to a dark site on a Tuesday and the moon photobombed my Andromeda shots
Two weeks ago I packed up my rig and drove out to a spot near Palomar Mountain because the light pollution map looked great. I got everything set up around 10pm, took a few test frames, and the histogram looked weird with a big glow on one side. Turns out I forgot to check the moon phase and it was an 85% waxing gibbous rising right in the east, so half my subs were basically daytime shots of glare. I got like 12 usable frames out of 80 and Andromeda looked like a smudge in fog. Now I check the moon calendar before I even load the car, does anyone have a good app that warns you about moon rise times at your exact spot?
