A retired guy at a rest stop in Utah showed me one trick for shooting Orion with a phone
Last October I pulled off I-70 near Green River, Utah to grab a soda, and an older guy noticed the tripod in my back seat. He asked what I shoot, I told him I was still trying to get a decent Orion photo with just my phone, and he laughed. He pulled out his own phone and showed me a shot of the nebula that honestly looked better than what I get with my old DSLR. His trick was stacking 30 ten second exposures in a free app and lining up the shots with a cheap $8 phone mount. I had been taking single 30 second shots for months, which is why everything came out as star trails or gray mush. Been stacking ever since. Anyone here shoot with a phone, and how many frames do you usually stack before it stops helping?
