Shoutout to the random guy at the library who corrected my math

I was adding up my garden seed costs wrong for 2 years and he pointed out the tax rate was on the receipt, now my spreadsheet finally balances, has anyone else had a stranger fix a dumb mistake you'd been making forever?

Wait, so you were just trusting your own math for two whole years without ever double-checking against what you actually spent? That seems like a lot of faith in a spreadsheet that clearly wasn't working. Do you think you would've caught it eventually, or was that guy basically the only reason your whole system didn't fall apart? I mean, tax rates are pretty predictable, so it's wild nobody else in your life ever looked at that receipt and said something. Honestly, it makes me wonder how many other little errors we all just carry around without ever noticing until a stranger points them out. Feels like the library guy deserved a coffee or something, not just a shoutout.
