That one guy at the Scottsdale mixer who kept pitching before the handshake

Went to a Phoenix chamber event last Tuesday. Dude walks up, introduces himself for 3 seconds, then immediately starts pushing his solar panel business. Didn't ask what I do or even my name after that. Is anyone actually closing deals by skipping the small talk and going straight to the sales pitch?

Wait did the other person react weird or was it just awkward silence after? Like did they look at their hand confused or just pretend it didn't happen?

Ugh seriously people make way too big a deal about this stuff. Like yeah it sucks when someone skips the pleasantries but it's not the end of the world. You can just nod and move on, it's a networking event not a marriage proposal. Maybe he's just bad at social stuff or nervous, doesn't mean we need to act like he committed a crime.
