Shoutout to the Phoenix mixer at The Yard that made me drop my pitch
I always thought networking meant handing out cards and talking about my business for 30 seconds straight at the first Tempe chamber event I went to. Then at a mixer at The Yard in Phoenix last month, a guy named Marcus asked me one question about what I was stuck on, and we talked for 20 minutes without me pitching once. Got two referrals from him in 3 weeks, which is more than I got from 6 months of card pushing. Has anyone else figured out that asking beats pitching, or is that just me?
