Pro tip: Stop sawing from the top if you're not sure
I spent 3 hours fighting a limb that kept pinching my chainsaw blade, then an old timer walked over and said 'you're cutting from the wrong side, kid.' Now I always check which way the branch will drop before I make the first cut - anyone else make that mistake for way too long?

Ha! Dude I spent a whole afternoon doing the same thing once. Branch was like "you thought you were gonna cut me? Nah I'm gonna trap your saw forever." Old guy across the street just shakes his head and yells "You're cutting uphill dummy!" Felt like such a clown. Now I feel like a pro chain saw operator just cause I look at the branch before I start. But let's be real I still mess it up half the time anyway.
