Spent 4 hours on a dryer that just needed a $3 part

Got a call in Austin for a dryer that wouldn't heat. Checked the thermal fuse, element, even the timer, all fine. After 4 hours of testing I found the door switch was barely making contact, a $3 replacement part fixed it. Anyone else ever chase a simple issue for way too long because it was a dumb intermittent fault?

Man, that hits home. Spent a whole afternoon on a washing machine that kept stopping mid-cycle, replaced everything I could think of, turns out it was a loose wire on the lid switch, a 50 cent fix for 5 hours of my life.
